18th C. Tuscan Prayer Chair

This 18th century Tuscan prayer chair is made of Italian chestnut. The Italians, and specifically the Tuscans, are world-renowned for use of this attractive and fine wood for furniture. It has a beautiful texture and color, accepts French polish very well and is magnificent when carved. This octagonal chair was treated for worms, missing pieces of wood were fabricated and inserted, and French polish was applied.
